My Big Sis

It helps Ethan fall asleep when you hold your hand on his belly. I'm glad, cuz at least he doesnt need to be Held to sleep. I've done it once or twice before, the belly thing... and again last night, he wouldnt fall asleep, so I tried holdin him, didnt work, tried binky, didnt work.. laid & held my hand on his belly... fell asleep... aww! :)

He gets hungry every two hours! But I just wont feed him before its been at least two and a half. And he actually does ok holding off... he'll fuss for maybe 10 mins, then its like he gets the picture after that... he usually somehow calms himself & is able to wait til its time to eat (about 15-20 mins later)... patient boy!

Ethan is awake a lot more during the day lately. Every day he takes one LONG nap, usually 3-4 hours, but most of the rest of the day he’s awake, with a few lil half hour cap naps here & there sometimes. I don’t really mind the more awakeness, he’s so good & easy to please! :)

He’s so much quicker at nursing now, which I love!

He rolled over last night! I never really count anything til it happens a second time, so I know it wasn’t a fluke… and… this was jus once, so I’m sure that’s the case, fluke.

Well he holds his head up all the time. And he’s smiling much more often! I’m just falling more & more in love with him!

The other day I suspected that he maybe had thrush, so took him to the doctor, and she said he has just little of it, that we caught it early, so no one else would get it. Now he's taking medicine, so its all good. And also when we were there, I asked about the rash on his face, that had been coming & going for some time now. She diagnosed it as seborrhea, and noted its severe dryness. So also for that we got a prescription and it looked 100 times better after only the first application! 3 days later, all better! And the medicine for the thrush, its yukky... he doesnt cry, but he tries to spit it out..... but he's healthy & happy, so no worries :)

Big Boy!

He looks so much older here than 6 and half weeks, doesn’t he?

We had the ceiling fan on the other day, going really slowly, he stared for what seemed forever! Without blinking, just mesmerized the whole time! Well, now we know how to keep him busy, hehe.

I love this, most times when Ethan is even a lil fussy, as I walk to him, I usually calmly say something like “Ethan honey” or something like that… and he always calms himself at the sound of my voice, even before I get to him!

Last night, I swear he was smiling for real! I was kissin his cheeks and neck and belly, roughin him up a lil, and he would get lil half grins, and also he was talking during this! I jus got him all riled up, so he was responding, it was awesome!

I forgot at this age, when they do the little things, how exciting it is! Fun!

The bottom two are from Ethan's dedication! The church gave us a copy of the video too!

The top one, he fell asleep like that, hehe... face burried in his coat, and whats up with the arm in the air, I dunno... but Funny!

Second one, I wanted him to stay awake, so I put him down to ... um, PLAY! hehe, didnt work... doesnt usually... he's hard to keep awake sometimes!

Well, Ethan is growing! He's 11 and 1/2 pounds already! And he's more & more alert, and focussing so carefully all the time! Like when you walk into a room, he faces right toward you & follows you with his eyes! He's so cute, his BIG blue eyes! His sleeping patterns are still pretty the same... he goes down around 11, and wakes to eat at around 4am, and then usually around 7... so its not TOO bad. And he's getting faster at nursing, Yay! Used to take 30-45 mins, including eating on each side and changing diaper... now takes about 20, 30 at the most. He's getting stronger & stronger, holds head up so good! And his legs too, sometimes we hold him up touse his legs & he does So good! Two different times he used em for like 30 seconds straight! Oh and he 'said his first word!' hehe, not really... but we laugh cuz sometimes when he cries, he goes "gee"... its so cute! Well I cant think of much else, he's still so little and ya know, not runnin around yet... but he's just so good! I'm in love!

In every sonogram with Ethan, he would have his hands over his face, and the technician could do nothing to make him move them... well of course he still does that now, he rubs his lil hands up against his face all the time, including during nursing... its already a lil less than he did the first few days, but sometimes I have to hold his hands out of the way while he eats... I guess its his comfort thing :)

Since I went from one kid, to Two, I've had to do kids laundry pretty much every single day! I used to do Diella's about once a week. Now its just never ending!

It's been a while since we first tried, but back when we tried mommy's milk from a bottle for the first time, he did great! And has taken it well ever since, so no problems there, yay!

Ethan's facial expressions are hilarious! He very often has his eye brows down, as though he's thinking or confused or something... its so funny!

He also grunts all the time! When he's stretching, or right when he's waking up, or if Diella hugs his too hard, hehe... I hate to call it a grunt tho, its not like a pig, but sounds more like someone clearing their throat... but its gotten to the point where Jacob has asked me not to nurse in our room during the night anymore cuz his grunting wakes him up! Haha!

Oh and another sound he makes that is hilarious... like when we need to wake him up... I'll describe it as though its like the sound of a cartoon chipmunk laughing, Ha!

Speaking of trying to wake him up... its almost impossible! When this boy is sleeping, it is a DEAD sleep! My mom has lifted his arm & let it go over & over, to watch it flop back down... I've given him zerbets (or raspberries, you may call it) in his cheeks & neck... nothing works! I've finally figured out the only way he wakes up, you've gotta get him down to his diaper & lay him flat on the floor, cant jus get him naked & hold him, and not even lay him flat on anything soft like a couch or bed, its gotta be the hard floor... then he finally wakes up, its nuts!

And this coming Sunday, April 5th, Ethan is being dedicated to God during an evening service at our church! We will share pictures of that night!

And we are SOOOO anxious to meet the kids' new cousin, Chanson! Unfortunately it might not be unil Thanksgiving, but we are already counting down the days!
